Introductory letter dedicated to novices, inquiring people, passionate people and connoisseurs.
It all started when Fulvio and Roberto’s friendship began at a work meeting with the help of a great socialization and planning enabler, wine. Roberto was instantly fascinated by this world, the meeting taking place in a magical and fascinating location where two characters full of history, culture and experience made wine. From that moment onwards he began to cultivate the dream of starting an enological path and succeeded in putting together a group of friends, each belonging to a different business: three wine-producing companies with different and complementary wine types, ranging from the Roero area (Canale) to historical Langhe cellars (Diano d’Alba) to the hills of the Monregalesi Langhe (Vicoforte).
My close relationship with vineyards and wine is of relatively recent origin, although I incarnate the fourth generation of our tradition. It all started close to the end of the 1800s with my great-grandfather Giorgio Barbero in a small farmstead in San Grato di Valpone, hamlet of Canale and in October 2015 I started to manage my first seven-and-a-half acres vineyard in Valmaggiore, near Vezza d’Alba, in the heart of Roero territory. The GIACOMO BARBERO farm was born then in early 2016, along with the first harvest that allowed to bottle the first wines as early as 2017. We provide Favorita, Arneis, Barbera and Nebbiolo and my intention is, thanks to our soil’s unique characteristics, to bring out a wine that mirrors such peculiarities.

Ours is a small family business and in the year 2000 we chose to switch to organic, mostly as a personal way of living, stemming not only from the love we keep for our land and our work but for our personal well-being too: well-being, “being well”, “existing in a good way”, so as to be sure to work and live well, in a healthy land that produces good fruits. This choice cascades onto the clients, and we can give them products that “do them good”, farmed with love and respecting the environment. We do not claim to make the perfect wine, but we have a good, healthy wine satisfactory both for taste buds, body and spirit.

The old farmstead is surrounded by vineyards producing DOCG ASSANEN DOGLIANI and DOC VUREI LANGHE NEBBIOLO, and a small production of DOCG BAROLO comes from La Morra land. This family-run business sees life as a “buen Retiro” project after a life spent on wine by him and on teaching Physics by her, blending the experience of the past with the desire to create something authentic, free from conditioning, where working is a pleasure. Him once again: wine expert founder of Cantine Ratti in La Morra with his uncle Renato, where he worked for 40 years, big fan of Barolo, popularizer, writer (“Il Barolo come lo sento io” – Barolo and how I know it), witness of Langa enogastronomic history with his artistic eye being a painter and potter, spiritual pupil of Pinot Gallizio. She, after a life dedicated to teaching Physics, decided to indulge her artistic soul through art, fashion, design, becoming the muse of Bricco Mollea. Our path was backwards, from big to willingly small.

The variety of these three businesses, the innovative spirit of youth and the wisdom of experience are the winning card for the growth of this new e-commerce, thought up and coordinated with great mastery by Roberto, going from a dream to reality: “the three canteens”
